[News] KeyEast Considers Entering Cosmetics Market

source:  http://www.soompi.com/2015/04/20/kim-soo-hyuns-agency-keyeast-considers-entering-cosmetics-market/

KeyEast Entertainment, home to many popular actors, is currently considering entering the cosmetics market.

KeyEast’s stock values rose 14.96% on April 21, as the news of the talent agency entering the cosmetics market surfaced.

A representative from the entertainment company told the press, “It is true that we are considering the possibility of branching out into the cosmetics industry.”

If they were to enter the cosmetics market, they will most likely be heavily targeting China. It will be likely that they will carry on their business with online shopping site Panda Korea Dot Com, in which KeyEast invested heavily late last year. KeyEast owns 37% of the e-commerce business.

KeyEast, established by Bae Yong Joon, is home to popular actors like Kim Soo Hyun, Joo Ji Hoon, Han Ye Seul, and Im Soo Jung.

[News] 'Winter Sonata' sequel due later this year

"BYJ + CJW = WS or WS-BYJ-CJW=????" ^__^v
================
source: The Korea Herald

A sequel to the South Korean TV series "Winter Sonata" that was hugely popular both at home and abroad more than a decade ago will be produced soon, its producer said Tuesday.

"The staff, including scriptwriters and producers, of 'Winter Sonata' will team up again for the sequel," Park Yeong-seok, CEO of Pan Entertainment, said in an interview with Yonhap News Agency.

(yonhap)
Starring Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo, the KBS soap opera about a woman whose lover suffers from amnesia was written by Yoon Seun-gyeong and Kim Eun-hee and directed by Yoon Seok-ho.

The sequel is currently in the planning stage with Yoon expected to take part in the project as an executive producer.

The synopsis of the new soap series is scheduled to be out next month, and the cast and the main producer of the sequel have yet to be decided.

"I've been planning the sequel for a long time. I've always thought I'll make a sequel after 10 years have passed since the first series aired, and I think now is the time for this," Park said. "I'm planning to have as many staff members from the first series take part in the new project as 'Winter Sonata' is very meaningful in many ways."

(yonhap)

Broadcast on KBS 2TV from January to March in 2002, "Winter Sonata" was a big hit at home for its story of sad but pure love, beautiful visual images, catchy music and fresh fashion styles.

Landing in Japan the following year, the drama captivated Japanese TV watchers, creating a boom of South Korean TV dramas and sending its lead actor Bae to fame.

Some 2 million copies of "Winter Sonata" OST CDs and 450,000 DVD sets were sold in Japan.

In 2004, South Korean economic research centers estimated the economic impact of the drama at 3 trillion won ($2.72 billion): 840 billion won in tourism, 20 billion won in sales of Bae's photo books and 10 billion won in sales of calendars featuring him.

"I hope the sequel has a positive impact on the poor relations between South Korea and Japan," Park said. (Yonhap)

SEOUL - Fans of the popular South Korean TV series Winter Sonata can rejoice as a sequel reuniting crew from the hit drama is in the works, according to its producer yesterday.

The 20-episode series was directed by Yoon Seok Ho - who is expected to take on the role of executive producer for the sequel - and was written by Yoon Seun Gyeong and Kim Eun Hee.
The new series is presently in the planning stage, with its synopsis due out next month. Yet to be decided are the cast and main producer.
Park said he had been planning the sequel for a long time.
He added: "I've always thought I'll make a sequel after 10 years have passed since the first series aired, and I think now is the time for this."
